Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Brush Set - ft. a Sigma Dupe!

It is a strong belief of mine that you can never have too many makeup brushes.  And so, naturally I enjoy collecting them - now, I probably do have too many but let's not focus too much on that!  A month or so ago, I purchased the Real Techniques Duo-Fibre brush set. In this post, I thought I'd share with you my thoughts and feelings on the set - enjoy!

Price? £23.99 Where to Buy? Boots This set is apparently Limited Edition (though it has been out for quite a while now with no signs of it discontinuing anytime soon) and it comes with three different brushes.  These are:

 - The Duo-Fiber Face brush: for lightweight application of blush / powder to the face. 

- The Duo-Fiber Contour brush: for controlled contouring and sculpting of the face.

- The Duo-Fiber Eye brush: for finishing touches to the eye and blending. 

My Thoughts:

I have been really enjoying these brushes and they have definitely conveyed me even more into a fan of the duo-fiber brush. This set is made beautifully well and are great quality as Real Techniques are well known for. 

What I love about this set and the brushes themselves most is that they give a really natural and soft flush of colour to the face. This makes them great for building up colour slowly as well as for allowing you to be able to control your coverage a lot more. This is particularly important element in terms of the brushes and their uses. Each brush is for a part of the face that you may not always want a heavy application. These brushes feel well made and soft to the skin and as mentioned before, blend products really well.

My favourite brush of the bunch is probably the contour brush. It's very easy I find to over-contour sometimes by adding too much product, but this brush picks up just enough allowing you to add definition and not sculpt the face too heavily. 

The Face Brush is one I have also enjoyed using as well and I have actually found it to be a pretty spot on dupe for a similar Sigma brush that I have in my collection. 

As you can see in the photo above, the Real Techniques Face Brush is just a little bit bigger than the Sigma F15 but in terms of performance, they're exactly the same and just as good in my opinion. 

The F15 is a whopping £21.50 in comparison to this 3-set collection set being only £23.99 for all 3 brushes. This means you're getting 3 brushes for more or less the price of one if you were to favour the Sigma brush of the Real Techniques one - now considering the brilliant quality of RT brushes, this is an amazing deal!

  

First Impressions: Eco Tools 6 Piece Brush Set!

Hi! In todays post, I'm bringing you another first impressions on a budget brush set. I love collecting makeup brushes- I think it's always good to have multiple brushes especially because good brushes can be very versatile and I for one am always finding different uses for them. So, this time, I'll be talking about the Eco Tools Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set.

Eco Tools is a an eco-conscious cosmetics company that pride itself in creating natural, high quality products (most notably makeup brushes) that are also cruelty free. This particular set of brushes have natural, cruelty free bristles, are made from the highly sustainable material that is bamboo as well as recycled aluminium. Along with the set, you also get a handy little carry case which is ideal for travel.

As I said, you get 5 full size brushes in this set complete with directions and they are:

A Blush Brush - 

Gently apply blush in an upward motion to the cheeks and blend the edges.

Lash and Brow Groomer -  

Used to give brows shape and tidy them for product application. Use the comb to separate and help lengthen the lashes.

Concealer Brush - 

Use the brush tip for precise application of product and the flat side for blending.

Eye Shading Brush - 

Apply a neutral shade to the lid / crease and blend upwards towards the brow bone.

Eyeliner Brush - 

For use on both the eyes and brows. For eyes, dot product along the lash line connecting the strokes from the corner outward. For the brows, apply a small amount of the product to the brush and gently fill in sparse areas in the brow.

Overall, I'm so far impressed with these brushes. They're super soft and feel like high quality to me when handling them. From inspection, the brushes don't shed which is always something I look for in a brush because this can really impact on performance. 

Another aspect that I really appreciate from this brush set and from Eco Tools as a company is their eco-friendly, cruelty free prospect to creating beauty products - this is something that I think is very admirable and is definitely something I know a lot of people are strongly behind. 

For such a small price of £15.99, you're getting really well made and high quality brushes and I personally think the price is therefore quite a steal! I mean, that's around the price you'd pay for one higher end brush and these definitely compete in terms of softness and quality as I'm sure they will too in performance.

First Impressions: BH Cosmetics Pop Art Brush Set

Hi! So, I've been doing a lot of reviews and first impressions lately... I guess that means I've been spending too much, huh? Well, today is no different and I'm bringing you a first impressions on a set of brushes from BH Cosmetics.

So, the set i'm going to be writing about is the 10 Piece Pop Art Brush set. This set comes with the 10 brushes (obviously) and a handy little brush caddy. The brushes are synthetic and have bright, neon coloured handles which instantly caught my attention. This is definitely a fun looking brush set and adds that cute pop of colour to your brush collection! So, lets get into the brushes we get and their intended uses:

1 - Powder Brush: Application of face powder and / or blush.

2 - Angled Powder or Blush Brush: Great for powder application in the contours of the face and /or blush to the cheek area.

3 - Foundation Brush: Application of liquid foundation.

4 - Flat Complexion Brush: Would be ideal for concealer application / blending.

5 - Complexion Blending Brush: Blending of foundations and / or concealers.

6 - Tapered Blender: Blending eyeshadow / softening lines.

7 - Fluffy Angled Shadow Brush: Ideal for application in the crease and outer corner.

8 - Angled Liner: Application of brow products / liner.

9 - Spooley: Good for brushing through the brows and / or brushing out mascara on the lashes.

10 - Lip Brush: Ideal for gaining a smooth, even application of a lipstick.

So, the verdict. Well, I'm really impressed with these brushes. They're so inexpensive and considering their purpose, I didn't expect too much. However, I'm really pleasantly suprised and I think these brushes are really good quality. They're so soft (like, seriously) and there is zero shedding. They look great which is always a bonus and from what I've tried so far, they do their job and they do it well! What more could I ask for? For such an inexpensive set, I praise these brushes highly and I'd definitely recommend them. I think I'll definitely be trying more of BH Cosmetics' brushes in the future and I suggest you do too!

TOP 5 FAVOURITE EYE PRODUCTS!

In this post, I am going to share with you my current top 5 favourite eye products. Let's get started!

Sleek's Oh So Special Palette - £6.99:

Firstly, I have my Sleek Oh So Special palette. I love this palette because it contains some really nice, workable shades for every day looks. It has a mixture of matte and shimmery finish shadows and there's a really good matte black in there too. The shadows blend well and there's barely any fallout which I love. It's a great little palette and is definitely worth it's reasonable price!

MUA's Heaven and Earth Palette - £4:

Next off, I have another palette. It's MUA's infamous Heaven and Earth palette. It contains twelve, really pretty, shimmery shadows and they are all gold and brown shades. Most of the shadows are really nicely pigmented and there is little fallout. I love this because of the neutral colours and the diverse shades of each colour that it has. It is so easy to create a day to night look with this palette and it's unbelievably cheap for it's great quality.

Elf' Eyeshadow Duo - £1.50:

The final eye shadow in this favourites post is my ELF eyeshadow duo in the shade Mocha. I love this because it has two key shades for me in most of my everyday eyeshadow looks; a medium brown and a pearly white. Both of these shadows have multiple uses, especially the white and they are so cheap that you really can't go wrong. It's a handy little duo to carry round with you on your travels and the pigmentation you get is very impressive.

L'oreal Telescopic Mascara - £10.99:

Fourth on my list is one of my favourite mascaras of all time: L'oreal Telescopic. I love the brush on this nascara and it lengthens my lashes like no other. My lashes are long but annoyingly straight and this gives them the length and volume I want. It's a little bit of pricier side but it definitely worth it and I would seriously recommend this mascara to anyone!

Real Techniques Eye Brush set - £20.99

Last but certainly not least on my life is my Real Techniques eye brush set. I love this set so much and i use them every single day. Each brush has it's own precise use and they are so, so soft on the eye which is always a definite plus. You can just tell that these brushes are high quality and they have a very reasonable price tag considering you get 5 brushes in the set.
