Review: OCC Metallic Lip Tar in Technopagan

 Hello! I'm here today bringing you a review - it's going to be of OCC's Lip Tar in the shade 'Technopagan'. I first tried lip tars a few months ago when I purchased the shade 'Hoochie' which is a beautiful, vibrant matte purple (a review of which you read here!). After trying that out, I fell in love with both the concept and use of the product itself and I knew I wanted to try more! After eyeing up this bold shade for a long time, I bit the bullet and got it and I have to say - I'm in love!

Technopagan is a bold blackened purple with a metallic finish. In the light however, it has more of a deep blue sheen with a kind of dark purple lining peaking through. It's on the cool side and has a beautiful shine to it. I'm not stranger the bold colours but this shade is definitely something new for me and that's definitely in a good way. I love alternative lip colours and this particular one definitely fits that category though at the same time I feel it is still strangely wearable (for me, anyway). 

Unsurpringly and as with all other Lip Tars, Technopagan is HIGHLY pigmented and a little bit goes a very long way - believe me! Unlike the others I've tried, the metallic formula seems to be a lot thicker but it still applies smoothly and evenly. It has more of matte kind of finish on the lips and doesn't have a sheen in the lip gloss kind of sense but this is instead due to it's metallic finish. I wouldn't say it feels drying on the lips which is definitely a good thing and in terms of creaminess, it's probably in the middle somewhere. Along the edges of the lips it does kind of fade out to a sort of pink-purple outline which may mean you need to build up the colour a little but it's an effect I happen to really like.

In terms of staying power, this product is a winner! As I've found with the other 2 lip tars I own, the staying power is awesome. I wore this product for a whole day complete with eating, drinking and general chit chat and this guy stayed put. No smudging, no streaking and it still maintained that intense pigment. 

Overall, I'm really impressed with this Lip Tar and I'm absolutely in love with the colour and finish of it. I think this may just be my new favourite lip product right now and I desperately wanna try some more OCC Lip Tar's because they're honestly just that good.

First Impressions: BH Cosmetics Pop Art Brush Set

Hi! So, I've been doing a lot of reviews and first impressions lately... I guess that means I've been spending too much, huh? Well, today is no different and I'm bringing you a first impressions on a set of brushes from BH Cosmetics.

So, the set i'm going to be writing about is the 10 Piece Pop Art Brush set. This set comes with the 10 brushes (obviously) and a handy little brush caddy. The brushes are synthetic and have bright, neon coloured handles which instantly caught my attention. This is definitely a fun looking brush set and adds that cute pop of colour to your brush collection! So, lets get into the brushes we get and their intended uses:

1 - Powder Brush: Application of face powder and / or blush.

2 - Angled Powder or Blush Brush: Great for powder application in the contours of the face and /or blush to the cheek area.

3 - Foundation Brush: Application of liquid foundation.

4 - Flat Complexion Brush: Would be ideal for concealer application / blending.

5 - Complexion Blending Brush: Blending of foundations and / or concealers.

6 - Tapered Blender: Blending eyeshadow / softening lines.

7 - Fluffy Angled Shadow Brush: Ideal for application in the crease and outer corner.

8 - Angled Liner: Application of brow products / liner.

9 - Spooley: Good for brushing through the brows and / or brushing out mascara on the lashes.

10 - Lip Brush: Ideal for gaining a smooth, even application of a lipstick.

So, the verdict. Well, I'm really impressed with these brushes. They're so inexpensive and considering their purpose, I didn't expect too much. However, I'm really pleasantly suprised and I think these brushes are really good quality. They're so soft (like, seriously) and there is zero shedding. They look great which is always a bonus and from what I've tried so far, they do their job and they do it well! What more could I ask for? For such an inexpensive set, I praise these brushes highly and I'd definitely recommend them. I think I'll definitely be trying more of BH Cosmetics' brushes in the future and I suggest you do too!

REVIEW: OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie.

Hey guys! I'm here today with a review for you all and this time it's going to be on an OCC Lip Tar in the shade 'Hoochie' - which is a matte shade. 

Recently, I've been embracing matte lipstick and I'm always on the search for one that isn't too drying and won't make the lips look all horrible and cracked.

OCC Lip Tar's are a cult product in the beauty community; beauty bloggers and guru's alike rave about them. They are described as liquid lipsticks and I'm personally a big fan of these kind of lip products as of late because I think you get the best of both in terms of finish and application. Hoochie is a beautiful purple / magenta colour and as you may know I absolutely love the colour purple so this is right up my street.

One of the things I really like about OCC Lip Tar's is that each one comes with their own mini lip brush as well as a vinyl carry case. I think this is a really awesome addition to the product itself and it makes it perfect for on the go or if you don't actually own a lip brush. It's actually pretty decent, too.

The product itself is EXTREMELY pigmented and that is no exaggeration. You also really do not need a lot of this product. Trust me, it's very easy to use way to much - a little of this honestly goes such a long way and this is something I'm really impressed by. The colour payoff is amazing and I'm absolutely in love with the colour.

The product is easy to apply and work with because it's a liquid, it has that creamy matte finish as opposed to that very dry look some solid matte lipsticks can give you. What I've also noticed is that it gives your lips this slight tingling feeling (not in an unpleasant way or anything) which is from the peppermint oil in the formula. It dries nicely and won't budge after doing so - it lasts a long time too so you can feel confident in wearing this for the whole day if you want to.

The only bad thing I've noticed with this particular lip tar is that it does have the tendency to bleed. This is easily solved by just priming and lining the lips before application so it's not a massive issue. It can also be cleaned up with a bit of concealer on the same lip brush you used to apply!

Overall, I'm pretty much in love with OCC Lip Tars. You get so much product for your money not to mention a free lip brush with every one. I think this totally justifies the £13.95 price because I honestly do not believe I'll be finishing this anytime soon. You can mix them with other shades in the range and I've already got a list of some others I want to get. They have a whole range of beautiful colours as well as various different finishes to offer such as gloss and metallic.

Hoochie is a definite recommendation for me especially if you're into bright colours (though they have lovely neutrals) and if you 

want a good matte lipstick!

REVIEW: The Urban Decay Electric Palette.

Hey! Today I've got a review for you on the Urban Decay Electric Palette. As a fan of bright and bold colours, this was something I really wanted to get my hands on.

This is a pressed pigment palette containing 10 super bright and bold shades - 8 of which are completely new. There is a range of matte to shimmery finishes offered in this palette, let's take a closer look at the colours we have...

Revolt - a bright metallic silver shimmer with silver glitter.

Gonzo - a bright matte turquoise.

Slowburn - a red / orange shade shot through with pearl finish.

Savage - a hot pink with a matte finish.

Fringe - a metallic teal.

Chaos - an electric blue with a matte finish

Jilted - a metallic fuchsia with a blue shift.

Urban - a bright metallic purple.

Freak - a bright green with a gold shift.

Thrash - a super bright lime green with gold pearl.

One of the main things I love about the palette is the packaging. Matching the super bright colours you find within, the palette has a gorgeous design with this sort of colour explosion on the front of it. It's also nice and sturdy without being too chunky - this makes it good for storage and / or travel.  The brush you get with it is also surprisingly good quality - this isn't something that is usually the case with brushes that come with makeup palettes. This one however not only looks good with the contrasting blue and black but it's double ended making it multipurpose - it's great for packing on colour and the smaller ended side is good for detail.

The eyeshadows are all impressively pigmented and I've swatched them for you without any base or primer to really show that. Although I'd always recommend a base for eyeshadow application, these ones are definitely great on their own so they won't need a white base like a lot of brighter colours do. There's little to no fall out in any of these colours (except for a slight bit from Slowburn) from my own experience and just like my other UD shadows, they are velvety and smooth. They blend really nicely and are extremely build-able if you really want an intense colour. My personal favourites are Jilted, Urban and Thrash because I'm a sucker for anything purple and Thrash is just amazingly pigmented and looks great on the eye. 

A lot of you may be wondering how practical this palette really is and I think that's the reason a lot of people are kind of iffy about. For me personally, I love experimenting with colour and would happily wear a bold look any day of the week but of course that isn't for everybody. 

But for those of us who prefer a more natural look, I can see why this perhaps wouldn't be a good purchase so you may want to opt for one of the Naked palettes (which I also love) if you're looking for a great neutral palette. However, if you think about it - all of us makeup lovers will at one point want to play with colour and a really nice pigmented bright eyeshadow can sometimes be expensive to buy individually or simply just hard to find. If you bare that in mind, this palette is actually a good investment because you have all the colours you could want if ever you feel like rocking a bold look without having to pay for individual colours which will prove a lot more expensive.

Even if you don't want to wear a super bright look, think of this palette as a 'pop of colour' palette - perhaps adding some pink into the inner eye or some electric blue on the waterline? I really think the quality of this palette justifies the price and if anything I would of assumed it would have been more expensive, I was pleasantly suprised to see it was on a pound more expensive than the Naked Palettes. There, I really think The Electric Palette is worth a go - especially if you are a fan of colour!

REVIEW: Sleek's i-Candy Eyeshadow Palette.

Hey guys! Today I'm here with a review and this time it's on Sleek's i-Candy eyeshadow palette -which is apart of their i-Divine palette range. This particular palette is full of bright, candy inspired colours and they have equally sweet names to match.

The shadows range from matte, shimmer and frost finishes. Let's take a closer look at the shadows...

So, on the first row of the palette from the left, we have Strawberry Sherbet which is a Barbie bright, matte pink. It's quite nicely pigmented and blends fairly well.

Next we have Bon Bon which is a frosty light pink. It's very pretty and looks lovely in the light.

Parma Violet is a deep matte purple and one of my favourites from the palette. It's well pigmented and is buildable too, which I like.

Apple Sour is frosty apple green which can look a little blue in certain lights.

Pear Drop is a shimmery lime green, it looks quite yellow in some lights but is pretty nonetheless.

Flump is a beautiful, bold purple shade. It's fairly pigmented and has a matte finish.

On to the second row of the palette, we have Liquorice which is a matte black - it's a nice black for soft look but it is not the most pigmented.

Then, we have Blue Fizzle which is a grey kind of toned blue. It's quite a deep, metallic shade.

Aniseed is next and this is frosty and shimmery reddy pink shade. Again, it's nicely pigmented and makes for an interesting colour.

Bubble Gum is a lovely bright sky blue colour and it has a matte finish. It's highly pigmented!

Mint Cream is a green with a little bit of shimmer running through it. It's more on the pastel shade and is kind of comparable to Apple Sour without the frostiness.

Finally, we have Cream Soda which is an extremely shimmery white. It's very pigmented and has the most fall out of all the shades.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the palette and it's definitely one of my current favourites. More or less all of the colours are so pigmented and not too mention absolutely gorgeous to look at. There's a nice mix of both shimmer and matte shades which means there's going to be something for everyone's preference. I think this palette also makes a great dupe for some higher end palettes with bright colours - most notably Urban Decay's Electric Palette. If you like bright colours, or maybe just want to start using them, I think this is definitely a worth while buy. At only £7.99 from Superdrug, I really don't think you can go wrong - especially with the high quality you'll be getting from this palette.
