Beauty and Fashion Wish List #1

I think it's time to face the fact that no matter how full my closet is and how crammed my makeup draws are, there's always going to be another dress, another lipstick and another beautiful pair of shoes that I lust over. With that said, I thought I'd share with you what's currently on my beauty and fashion wish list!

Firstly on my wish list are these gorgeous pair of Dr Martens. I absolutely adore the colour and finish of these boots, they're so unique yet I can totally picture loads of outfits to pair them with. I'm definitely on a Dr Martens buzz and I can see these being my fourth pair!

I got my very first Lime Crime Velvetine in that shade Utopia and I love it. It's so bold and so bright which is very much my cup of tea. Purple is my absolute favourite colour so when I saw they had released a purple shade, it of course went straight on my wish list. Now, I'm not sure when it will be available in the UK for purchase but when it is, it'll be going straight in my basket.

Lime Crime Velvetine in 'Pansy'

This has been a beauty item I've wanted for a long time and it's recently came back into my wish list after seeing it used in a beauty video I watched not long ago. I've heard so many good things about Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and the colours in to look so lovely and versatile for everyday wear. That purple shade is calling my name!

Face of the Day #8: Utopia

Wow, 2 posts in one day - I'm a roll! REVIEW: Lime Crime Velvetine in Utopia!

Hey guys! I've got a review on the blog today and it's going to be on Lime Crime's Velvetine lipstick in the shade 'Utopia'. This is a popular product in the beauty community and I'm certainly late to the party even though I've been eyeing them up for some time! I originally wanted the classic red shade but Utopia caught my eye and I decided to get that instead.

Like a lot of Lime Crime products, the packaging is unique and attractive, I love the rose printing on it. It also feels like quality, the packaging is sturdy and well made which always nice.

So, the colour itself is a cool toned purple-pink shade - it's described as a 'bold orchid' on the Lime Crime website. I think i'd agree with this more or less, but I do feel it's a little more on the pink side than it is the purple. Either way though, the colour is really beautiful and bold. I love a bright lip and you won't be disappointed with this shade by any means - it's SUPER pigmented and in one coat you'll have opacity but with two you'll have that jaw-droppingly bright vibrancy.

In formula, it's basically a liquid lipstick - it'll go on like a thick kind of gloss consistency and will then dry to a matte finish like you've just applied a normal, matte lipstick. It does also have that 'velvet' kind of finish it claims to as opposed to something that looks super dry (which a lot of matte products really can). It's not as creamy as say the Bourjois Velvets though - which isn't an issue for me but might be something you'd want to keep it mind if you prefer a creamier finish.

So, how long does this product last on the lips? A good long while, actually. I wore this product for around 6 hours straight with drinking and talking involved and it didn't budge. The colour payoff stayed true all through that time and there was no bleeding or smudging. I did find it 'crumbled' a little bit in the very inner area of the lip but this was minimal. When removing the product from my lips, I actually found it stained a little which I actually find quite a good thing - it kind of shows you just how long lasting it is. Don't worry though, I applied a little bit more pressure than usual and it eventually came off without any fuss!

There are many products out there with a similar idea to the Lime Crime Velvetines. The one that might come to mind for most is MUA's Luxe Velvet Lacquers - they have similar packaging, a similar colour range and a lot of people say they're dupes. Whilst I do really like the MUA version and think they're good for their value, I have to say that they're trumped by Lime Crime on this one. They last so much longer and I think you get a lot more pigmentation from them as well. If you want to be wearing a colour for the whole day, the MUA Lacquers simply aren't going to work for you. From my experience, they crumbled within an hour or two and it was very noticeable. Lime Crime's Velvetines have that staying power and that vibrant colour and for me, it's so worth the price.

I purchased my Velvetine from the website Cocktail Cosmetics and it was £13.50. As far as I know, in the UK Lime Crime is only sold online and I personally love Cocktail Cosmetics for hard to find and higher end makeup products. They stock many popular, alternative and vegan / cruelty free makeup brands!

Anyway, that's my review of the Lime Crime Velevetine in Utopia - it's a beautiful product and I'll definitely be sticking some more on Christmas list! Have you tried this product, do you know any good dupes? Let me know!

BEAUTY HAUL!

Hey! Today I've got a beauty haul for you, it's definitely been a while right?

So, firstly I picked up quite a few lip products - I may have gone a little crazy... First up is a MAC lipstick in 'Creme Cup'. It's actually a beautiful nude colour and is so flattering on light skin tones - it's quite a tame colour for my but I really do like it.

Next I got one of the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks - I've been wanting to try these for ages so I finally gave in and purchased one in the colour 'Melted Violet'.

The last lip product I bought was a Lime Crime lipstick. Once again, this has been a brand I've been wanting to try for sometime - unfortunately, they're not too readily available. I finally got one of their lipsticks though and it was in the shade 'PoisonBerry'.

Moving on to face products now, I picked up the highly coveted Revlon Colorstay foundation in the shade 'Buff'. I do already have this foundation but it's the wrong skin type formulation - it gives me a matte finish and with skin that is more on the dry side, this isn't too great. I actually paid attention this time and picked up the normal / dry skin version and I've really been enjoying it!

I've never tried MAC concealers and I know they're often raved about. I've been on the look out for a new, good quality concealer and so I picked up their Pro-Longwear one in the shade 'NC20'. So far, I'm really enjoying this concealer but I'm not impressed with the darn pump on it. It's so hard to control so I always end up with too much - an annoying fact when this product is so pricey!

The final item(s) I picked up are technically Christmas gift items but hey, I wanted them okay? They are these really cute Benefit mini's that come with a free pink Christmas stocking. Even though they're mini sizes, £15 for all four of these items is actually a STEAL from a brand like Benefit. And, they're all products I've never tried before (apart from Benetint) so it's great to be able to try out some new products without spending loads.

Liquid Lipsticks

Liquid lipsticks are a product that I've been enjoying for a while now. You get the pigmentation and finish of a lipstick with the ease of application that a gloss can provide you. For these reasons, they've been my go to lipsticks and in the beauty world they're becoming more and more popular.

So, in this post I thought I'd run through some of my personal favourites and tell you what each brand says about them!
