REVIEW: LA Splash Lip Couture Liquid Lipsticks!

Hey! Today I have a review for you as promised on the LA Splash Lip Couture liquid lipsticks. I picked these up just over a week or two ago now and I thought I'd share my thoughts and feelings on them. LA Splash (from what I can gather) is an American brand that has recently hit the UK. Though I believe they make multiple products as a company, it is mainly their lip products that are taking the makeup community by storm and I have 3 of them to show you in this post. 

Packaging:

I like the packaging of these lipsticks quite a lot - firstly, the fact that it's see-through makes it a lot easier to know what shade I'm going for without having to read it's name. It's also handy for knowing how much of them I actually have left which is always nice! The design is simple and sophisticated - something I always appreciate in packaging.

Colour and Pigmentation:

The pigmentation of these lipsticks is AMAZING - that's something I have to put straight out there. In one to two applications, you have completely opaque coverage which I find really impressive. The colour payoff is also very intense - these are truly pigmented lipsticks. This brand makes a lot of really unique, beautiful shades that you're not going to find in the drugstore - from true blue-toned purples to blues and blacks, there's a great selection of alternative colours as well as more wearable, everyday ones too. There's something for everyone in the colour variation of this product.

The colours that I currently own are Vindictive - a kind of blue-grey shade - something I've never really seen before in a lipstick and one I was particularly excited to own, Criminal - a very bright, pink/red-toned purple & Poison Apple - a beautiful cherry red.

Application and Wear:

As stated before, these are really pigmented lip products and all the shades I own are opaque in around 2 applications. Vindictive however could probably be opaque in one application and is definitely the thicker in formula of the three. On the lips, they glide on smoothly and feel comfortable to wear. Like most liquid lipsticks, these do dry matte but these however retain that creamy look to them which I like. Being a matte lipstick, they will accentuate the lines on your lips but in all honestly, that doesn't really bother me because well, that's natural!

In terms of wear time, these lipsticks are very long lasting. They last for a good 6-8 hours at least but will start to wear slightly in the inner portion of the mouth - particularly if you're eating or drinking. Even then though, it's barely noticeable and they do leave that kind of 'stain' effect on the lips and so it's not going to look very obvious that it's wearing. These lipsticks don't 'crumble' like some liquid formulas can but if you really pile on the lipstick, they possibly could. It's easy enough to re-apply in the areas you need it and it still feels comfortable on the lips when you do. 

A lot of people comment on the staying power of these liquids - specifically when showing you how difficult it is to actually remove them when trying to wash if off the lips. As impressive as that definitely is, it may be worrying to you that it will be impossible to get this product off.

Don't worry though, with a cream or oil based cleanser, these come off easily enough without leaving your lips sore or irritated. Their staying power is more so applicable to contact with water which won't be enough to remove them!

Overall, I am really, really impressed with these lipsticks and I can definitely say I'm excited about this brand. I'll definitely be getting some more of these - when they're in stock that is as after hitting the UK, a lot of them are out of stock now! I love the colour selection and performance of these lipsticks and I'd recommend them completely. I picked up these lipsticks from the website Love-Makeup but you can also get them in the UK from Cocktail Cosmetics, too!

REVIEW: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy!

Hey guys! I hope you're all well, today I have a review for you on Urban Decay's Revolution Lipstick in the shade Anarchy.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick - £15.00

Higher end lipsticks are something I can be very picky about and so far there are a few brands I feel are worth that higher price tag. After trying the lipstick from their Pulp Fiction collection, I pretty much fell in love and knew I wanted to try more lipsticks from Urban Decay. I spotted the shade Anarchy and thought it looked amazing so I picked it up one day whilst browsing through the makeup stands in Debenhams!

 About the Product:

Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks are described as rich pigmented, with 23 shades to choose from - something for every skin tone. They are also described as being nourishing, long lasting and hydrating on the lips.

Packaging and Colour:

First off, I adore the packing of UD lipsticks. I think they just ooze high end - they are exactly what higher end products should look like. The packaging looks and feels expensive and for the price, that's exactly what you want and should expect. It's sleek and modern and something you'd therefore really enjoy having on display if that's what you're into! Thumbs up for the packing, then.

 I bought my lipstick in the shade Anarchy which is a gorgeous, rich and bright pink shade.

Formula and Finish:

The formula of this lipstick is intensively creamy and it has that appearance in it's finish. So, it's not matte but it's definite not glossy either. It has a really nice sheen to it that I personally really like. It's not overpowering but really helps to make the lips look plumper as well as steer away from a dry look which is never wanted - especially in colder months.

This lipstick is definitely highly pigmented and in one swatch you will easily have your lips covered and opaque. I'm very impressed by the pigmentation and I think it's one of the reasons this product can justify it's price tag.

Application and Wear:

Being so creamy, this lipstick can smudge but the colour does last. I've worn this for a whole day on a few occasions now and this is something I can definitely vouch for. Being so creamy, it will naturally transfer if you touch your lips but from my experience, it doesn't come completely off or start looking like you only applied it to the rim of your lips (we've all been there).

As I said, the wear time is really good and it stays feeling creamy on the lips throughout. I'd definitely recommend a lip liner or good primer to be applied before application because it can bleed a little bit. It does feel extremely comfortable on the lips and it's hydrating and moisturing feel is one of the reasons I really wanted to try more UD lipsticks.

Overall, I love this lipstick and can't really think of anything bad to say about it. Yeah, it does transfer a bit and can bleed but that's what you get with creamier lipsticks. Personally, this doesn't really bother me but if you hate the sound of that, perhaps sticking to matte lipsticks is better for you. However, for the sheer pigmentation, comfortable feel and long lasting wear of this lipstick, I'd definitely recommend you try one.

REVIEW: Benefit's Posietint and Benetint!

Hey guys! Today I'm going to be reviewing not one but TWO lip products from Benefit: they're infamous Benetint and the Posietint lip and cheek stains. 

About the Product:

Benetint is a cult favourite among Benefit cosmetics lovers and makeup junkies a like. It's one of if not the most famous product Benefit has ever released. Benetint is a rose-tinted cheek and lip stain that is meant to provide you with a natural flush of colour that also lasts for hours. Posietint similarly to Benetint is used in the same way but is more a poppy, pink tinted stain.

Packaging and Application:

Both products come in cute, nail-polish like bottles with the same sort of applicator brush you'd find in one too. This applicator makes it really easy to get a fast and precise application and it also picks up a nice amount of product, too. Being so liquidly however (specifically Benetint), it can drip from the brush which can be a little annoying but it's really too much of an issues for me.

Shade and Pigmentation:

As you can imaging by the phrase 'flush of colour', these stains aren't meant to be majorly pigmented and are designed to give you a nice, sheer and natural application. I have however found that they can be built up nicely with a few layers so you can get a little more colour out of them. This is also particularly handy if you want to layer the products over a similar colour lipstick or gloss. Both shades are flattering though are perhaps not ideal for darker skin tones as I'm not sure how much colour payoff you'd really get - though Benetint may work, Posietint probably won't offer you much. So, when discussing the actual shades of the two products Benetint is that classic rose flush colour - a mix between red and pink whereas Posietint is a lot more of the pink side and is a little bit more softer.

Formula and Wear:

Benetint is very much a complete liquid stain whereas Posietint is actually a liquid-gel formula making it that little bit thicker. Being a liquid, Benetint therefore can easily fall into and dry into the cracks and lines of your lips so it's important that you work fast. It's also a little bit more on the drier side so you may want to apply a balm or chapstick before application. Posietint is easier to work with and has more of a creamy finish to it. I rarely use stains on the cheeks as it's just not my favourite formula type to use on them but on the lips, I've found that both products wear well. As they dry so fast and are more of a stain, there's little to no transfer and this also means that they last for the whole day as well. Of course, being so sheer of an application, you will find that the bit of intensity there does fade over time (around 5-6 hours) so you may want to apply a little bit more here and there especially if you're wearing the products alone.

Overall, I really love these two lip products. I think they're perfect for a simple, natural makeup look on those days where you're in a rush or just don't feel like wearing much. They provide you with a lovely flush of colour which lasts and can be built upon easily. They're also really handy to just chuck in your bag on the go if you fancy taking off your current lipstick for something less high maintenance. And of course, they're a 2 in 1 product so you don't have to carry a blush and a lipstick! In terms of price, these are £24.50 each which yes does seem like an awful lot for a lip product. But trust me, you get ALOT - even in the mini's which you can find in Benefit gift sets. I'm quite confident that a full size product could probably last you up to a year if not longer so with that in mind, it's actually quite a decent price for a Benefit product if you ask me!

As far as I know this is only available in store but there are plenty of Benefit gift sets on Boots containing these products that you can find here. REVIEW: Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Melted Violet!

Hey guys! Today I bring to you a lip product review and the product in question today is... (drum roll please) Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks! In this review, I'm also going to be adopting a more framed, ordered review approach and layout so please tell me what you think of it!

About the Product:

As described by Too Faced themselves, the Melted Lipsticks are described as a 'revoluntiary' product that provide you with the staying power of a stain, the intense pigmentation of a liquid lipstick and high shine of a gloss all in one formula. They say that this product will comfortably coat lips maintaining that intense colour as well as lasting all day.

Packaging and Application:

So, the Melted Lipsticks come in packaging reminiscent of a squeezable lipgloss tube with an applicator on the end that's kind of a like a sponge tip. I have found that this really helps to diffuse the amount of product you squeeze out when applying it. The shape of the applicator also means that it's actually really easy to get a precise, fine application all over the lips meaning you don't really need to use a lip pencil unless you want to. 

Shade and Pigmentation:

There are an array of shades available in the Melted Lipsticks and the one that I currently have is called 'Melted Violet'. It's a gorgeous cool-toned bright violet shade and I absolutely love it. Though I have my eye on a few other shades, this instantly caught my eye simply because it was purple and the most unique colour of the bunch. It's seriously pigmented with instant coverage in only one layer of application.

Formula and Wear:

The formula of this product feels creamy and super moisturising. They're not sticky and certainly don't feel drying either which is something that always puts me off a lip product. They do have a glossy, cream finish but can be blotted or powdered a little to give you that more matte look. In terms of staying power, this product last for hours - easily around 4-6 hours without a touch up in my experience. When it does start to fade, it's usually around the inner rim of the lip but with a quick touch up you're good to go again - and that's including when you're eating and drinking!

Price and Value for Money:

These lipsticks retail at £19.00 in the UK which at first glance seems a little pricey. Bearing in mind Too Faced is definitely a higher end brand, it's actually not as expensive as it seems because at the same time, you're getting a lot of product. There is some serious pigmentation in this product which means you don't need much for a full application so I actually think this is good value for money - especially if there's a shade in the range that you particularly love.

Overall, I really love this lip product and as one of my first ever Too Faced products, I'm really impressed. I love the intense pigmentation and the bright, bold colour of this particular and I think I'll definitely be trying out more in the future!

Review: OCC Metallic Lip Tar in Technopagan

 Hello! I'm here today bringing you a review - it's going to be of OCC's Lip Tar in the shade 'Technopagan'. I first tried lip tars a few months ago when I purchased the shade 'Hoochie' which is a beautiful, vibrant matte purple (a review of which you read here!). After trying that out, I fell in love with both the concept and use of the product itself and I knew I wanted to try more! After eyeing up this bold shade for a long time, I bit the bullet and got it and I have to say - I'm in love!

Technopagan is a bold blackened purple with a metallic finish. In the light however, it has more of a deep blue sheen with a kind of dark purple lining peaking through. It's on the cool side and has a beautiful shine to it. I'm not stranger the bold colours but this shade is definitely something new for me and that's definitely in a good way. I love alternative lip colours and this particular one definitely fits that category though at the same time I feel it is still strangely wearable (for me, anyway). 

Unsurpringly and as with all other Lip Tars, Technopagan is HIGHLY pigmented and a little bit goes a very long way - believe me! Unlike the others I've tried, the metallic formula seems to be a lot thicker but it still applies smoothly and evenly. It has more of matte kind of finish on the lips and doesn't have a sheen in the lip gloss kind of sense but this is instead due to it's metallic finish. I wouldn't say it feels drying on the lips which is definitely a good thing and in terms of creaminess, it's probably in the middle somewhere. Along the edges of the lips it does kind of fade out to a sort of pink-purple outline which may mean you need to build up the colour a little but it's an effect I happen to really like.

In terms of staying power, this product is a winner! As I've found with the other 2 lip tars I own, the staying power is awesome. I wore this product for a whole day complete with eating, drinking and general chit chat and this guy stayed put. No smudging, no streaking and it still maintained that intense pigment. 

Overall, I'm really impressed with this Lip Tar and I'm absolutely in love with the colour and finish of it. I think this may just be my new favourite lip product right now and I desperately wanna try some more OCC Lip Tar's because they're honestly just that good.
