Hello everyone! I hope you're having a good week thus far. In today's post, I'm going to be continuing my liquid lipstick review series and today, it's going to be on Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. 

Now, I know there's a lot of controversy past and present surrounding JS to say the least, but this post is purely a review of the product itself, not of him. Perhaps I'll get into my thoughts and feelings on some of the people behind these brands in another post!

On these lipsticks, Jeffree Star's website has to say: 

"Our liquid lipstick goes on opaque, dries completely matte and stays on for hours! This product is 100% vegan & cruelty-free!(tips before use: exfoliate with lip scrub then apply to bare lips! Avoid food with oil… and no making out, kisses are ok!)"

 In the UK, JS lipsticks are available for purchase on the website Beauty Bay and they retail for £16.00 each. 

LIQUID LIPSTICK SERIES | LIMECRIME VELVETINES

Happy Monday everyone! It's been a little over a week since I last posted and I'm back today with another liquid lipstick review to add to my ongoing series. Today's review is going to feature are LimeCrime's Velvetines.

LimeCrime describes these lipsticks as the "original liquid lipstick inspired by rose petals".
In this inspiration, they are designed to be extremely pigmented with a velvety-matte, kiss proof finish. They can be purchased from multiple online shops in the UK such as ASOS, CultBeauty & Love-Makeup for £15.00-£16.00.

I love lipsticks and in recent months, I've been specifically obsessed with liquid lipsticks. As my collection grows and I try new brands, new formulas and new products, I've decided to start doing a more extensive review series. In this series, I plan to provide in depth reviews of the different liquid lipsticks certain brands have to offer as well as compile a rated and regularly updated list of them too. 

As with my normal beauty reviews, I will provide information about the brand, discuss the pigmentation and application of the product as well as show you swatches and compare wear time.  

#FOTD | Lady Danger

Hey everyone, happy Monday! Today I have a face of the day post for you featuring the makeup look below. I decided to go for something simple yet with a pop of colour in the form of a bright lipstick - my favourite.

The lipstick I'm wearing is MAC's Lady Danger - a beautiful, orange based red with a matte finish. I'm in love with this colour and when wearing it, I received lots of compliments - it's certainly a striking colour that's bound to get attention. I teamed this red with a subtle, softly smoked out eye with plenty of mascara - this is my favourite way to wear a red (other than with a classic cat eyeliner of course). To match the orange base of the red, I went for a soft peach blush and as usual, plenty of highlight for that must have glow.

Beauty | Review: Nyx Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good Wednesday so far! Today I'm back with another NYX review for you all. I've been really enjoying NYX and their products lately and their Lip Lingerie lipsticks are what I'll be reviewing for you in this post - specifically the lipstick shade "Bedtime Flirt". 

So first as always before I get into my review, let's see what NYX says about this product:

"Slip into something seductive with Lip Lingerie, our new weightless liquid lipstick with a plush matte finish.

Available in a range of colour-kissed nudes—from cinnamon pink and chocolate brown, to warm mahogany red and classic nude beige—each sultry shade will coat the curves of your lips with irresistibly creamy colour."

Colour & Pigmentation:

The colour "Bedtime Flirt" is described on the NYX website as a red toned pink - a description I would describe as fairly accurate. The colour itself has definite undertones of red as well as orange and brown in my opinion and is somewhat similar to Kat Von D's "Lolita" (though certainly lighter in shade). It's a perfect autumnal shade for me and one i've been wearing often these past few months. In terms of pigmentation, this shade is nicely pigmented though a little patchy in places - nonetheless, the colour is rich and true to the tone in the packaging when swatched on the skin. 

Application, Formula & Wear Time:

This lipstick applies nicely to the lips though as mentioned above, it can be patchy in some places. This is easily fixed with a little more layering and it isn't difficult at all to get an even, opaque coverage. The lipstick dries matte in around 30-45 seconds and doesn't transfer to the touch once it has done so. 

The lipsticks are lightweight and feel velvety on the lips. Despite drying matte, they can sometimes transfer and feel almost "sticky" when you press your lips together. This isn't a massive deal however and always, it's best not to rub your lips together too much anyway when wearing a liquid lipstick.

The wear time of these lipsticks are very good - I have worn them for full days at work with only 1 need for a touch up. When drinking, there's little to no transfer or wearing and they react well to contact with food. 

Final Thoughts:

 Overall, I'm a big fan of these liquid lipsticks and I have to say, I definitely prefer them over the formula of the much loved Soft Matte Lip Creams! Definitely give these a go if you're a liquid lipstick fan.

Lipstick Lovin'

I love lipstick. If there's one makeup product I'd happily collect ridiculous amount of, it's lipstick (or many eyeshadow palettes - can never have too many neutral palettes am I right?!). In particular however, I am really enjoying liquid lipsticks - they're long lasting, dry matte and come in a whole heap of awesome colours to fit whatever look or mood you're in. In today's post, I thought I'd share with you a recent liquid lipstick purchase I made at my favourite online makeup site: Cocktail Cosmetics, enjoy!

LA Splash is a liquid lipstick brand that I love and due to already owning five of their liquid lipsticks, I was confident enough to buy 3 more! I got one lipstick in their "Velvet Matte" range and that was in the shade Seductress - which is a sort of browny-mauve shade. Next, I got two lipsticks from their "Studio Shine Lip Lustre" range in the shades Athena & Alice. Athena is a beautiful peachy nude shade with a gold sparkle and Alice is a lovely orchid shade which also has just a hint of sparkle in it too. All shades dry beautifully matte!

Finally, I wanted to try a Jeffree Star lipstick ever since he released them not so long ago. Being a lipstick junkie, I found it pretty difficult to pick a shade, but having been on a neutral lipstick hype as of late, I decide to go for the shade Celebrity Skin - which is an awesome browny nude.

And that's everything I got! I'm excited to really play around with these shades in the upcoming weeks - look out for a review coming your way too!

Christmas Beauty Gifts from Too Faced and Benefit!

It's socially acceptable to start talking about Christmas now, right? Regardless, whether you're a fan of the early Christmas organiser or you leave it all to the last minute, it's nice to have some gift inspiration.

This last gift idea is probably my favourite and is one I treated myself to last year as well! Basically, every year Boots have on offer in which you receive a free (and super cute) Benefit stocking as well as 4 luxury sized samples from the brand for £15.00. The selections change slughly every year and this year, I got 2 mini's of their That Gal Primer, Bad Gal Lash Mascara and a mini Bad Gal eyeliner!

As with the TooFaced set, this is such a great way to try out some of what other brands have to offer - especially if you're new to them. You get deluxe samples in each set and so you're going to get a really good idea of what a product has to offer and whether or not it's for you!

FINDING THE PERFECT LIPSTICK FOR YOUR SKIN TONE.

Skin tone generally forms the basis of most of our makeup troubles when it comes to finding the right shade for us. There's firstly undertones to consider; are we cool, warm or neutral? And what the hell is the difference between them anyway?!

When you feel like a particular lip colour or blush shade just doesn't look right on you, it's probably down to it not quite being the most flattering for your skin tone. Though I certainly believe there are no strict rules in makeup and you should wear whatever you want, I think it's always helpful to have a basis from which to begin with and work from. In this post therefore, I thought I'd look at lip colours and and how to find the shades that are the most flattering for your skin tone. I hope this comes in handy in some way and that of course, you enjoy!

First Things First: Undertone:

We of course have a fair idea of what our skin tone is but in the world of makeup and colour matching, it's not quite as simple as that. More than just knowing your skin colour, the undertones of it are often what dictates what colours are really going to suit you. There are generally 3 kinds of undertones that you may fall under and they are: warm, cool and neutral.

** TIP TO FINDING YOUR UNDERTONE EASILY **

Look at the veins on your wrist:

1. If your veins look blue, you have COOL,  PINK undertones.

2. If you veins look green, you have WARM, YELLOW undertones.

3. If you have a mixture of both coloured veins, you have NEUTRAL undertones.

Finding the Perfect Lip Colour:

So, now you know how to find your undertone, you have the perfect basis for finding a flattering lipstick colour.
Generally, a good rule to stick to is to look for a lipstick colour that matches your skins undertone - so, for yellow undertones you want lipsticks that are on the warmer side and are pink or orange based. For pink undertones, go for cooler shades that are blue or purple based! And for neutral, you can pretty much wear any shade!

NUDE:

Choosing a nude lip has more factors than simply finding your undertone. For something to look "nude" on your, your generally want a colour 2-3 shades darker than your own skin tone so that is the most important factor here. As always, if you have cool, neutral or warm undertones, consider this and you find that perfect nude as well!

REVIEW: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in "F-Bomb"

I am a self confessed lipstick junkie so it may come as no surprise that today I have yet another review on one for you! Today, we're looking an Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in the shade F-Bomb.

I've reviewed this range of lipsticks before from Urban Decay - the lipsticks in it are specifically formulated to give you intense colour payoff but with a creamy and shiny finish. They claim to be made for extensive wear as well to contain ingredients that help to nourish the lips and make them seem plumper and fuller!

Packaging:

As with most Urban Decay packaging, this lipstick oozes that feeling of sophistication and high end quality that you'd expect for the price your paying. I love the gunmetal grey of the lipstick tube and the way "Urban Decay" is embossed on it - the packaging really does feel and look like a high end product which is exactly what I would want it to.

Colour and Pigmentation:

The shade that I got this lipstick in was "F-Bomb" - great name, huh? It's described as the "classic red" and I'd say that's pretty spot on to be honest. 

F-Bomb is warm/neutral medium red that when swatched and in the tube looks more cool-toned. On the lips and depending on your skin colour, it can however appear a little warmer. For me, it's pretty much that classic, Hollywood red with a slight cool undertone and I love it!

This lipstick is insanely pigmented, one swipe and you have intense colour payoff - this is the same with the other Revolution lipsticks that I own. The colour spreads evenly on the lips and you aren't going to need more than one coat to get a perfect coverage, 

Formula and Application / Wear:

In terms of formula, this lipstick feels creamy and smooth on the lips. It spreads easily and feels pretty light on. It has a shiny finish (not lip gloss shiny, just a nice creamy shine) and it's comfortable to wear throughout the day.

Now, in terms of wear time, this lipstick really lasts all day - as it's so richly pigmented it does leave a slight stain to the lips as well - so when it does eventually wear, you aren't going to notice it too much. For me, it can last a good 8 hours and even then, you probably won't need to re-apply if you didn't want to. This for me is one of the most impressive things about this lipstick - most of the time you'll have to wear a matte lipstick to get that kind of wear time but this is far from a matte finish and it lasts for ages.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the lipstick which doesn't surprise me as I'm a huge fan of the Revolution range from Urban Decay. This lipstick is luxurious in both its feel and appearance and this shade in particular is that perfect, Hollywood red that'll make you feel like a star. 

I'd definitely recommend this collection and this particular lipstick - you won't regret it. The price range of this lipstick is similar to one from MAC and so though it's still definitely higher end, it's still on the lower end of the overall price scale for this kind of brand. If you fancy treating yourself to a higher end lipstick, this is one I'd totally look into!

Face of the Day: Bronze and Berry Tones

Hey everyone! I'm officially on my Easter holidays from Uni and while I've still got some work I need to be doing over it, I do have more time I can dedicated to blogging!

My Top Beauty Tips and Tricks!

Every day, I'm learning more and more about makeup application and finding techniques and tricks that help me apply it the way I want to! In this post, I thought I'd share with you my personal favourite tips that I use every time I apply makeup - enjoy!

Long Lasting Curled Eyelashes!

As a girl with long yet straight-as-an-arrow eyelashes, it's so frustrating trying to get a curl in them to last for more than half an hour. I'm not a fan of fake eyelashes and I certainly don't want to be wearing them everyday. When I first discovered this trick however, I actually saw results that lasted! The trick to this is the waterproof mascara - it's oil based rather than water based so it's going to help hold your curl for longer prior to your application of non-waterproof mascara.

How To: 

• Curl your lashes without any product on them as you normally would. (Curl inwards for more dramatic results)
• Apply one THIN (very, very thin) layer of waterproof mascara to your lashes. Wait for this to dry.
• Curl your lashes once again (don't worry, the amount of mascara you've applied should be so minimal that your lashes will not stick to the curler - especially if you wait till you're sure it's dry!)
• Apply your normal mascara as usual.

Concealer Clean Up Tip:

Concealer does wonders for blemishes and imperfections but one thing I didn't realise was how good it actually is for cleaning up your makeup mistakes, too.

How To:

• Yep, just grab a thin detail brush with a bit of your concealer on it and you easily clean up your lip line, eyeliner and eyeshadow for a clean, crisp finish. Be sure to blend afterwards and you're good to go!

Make Any Lipstick Colour Matte:

Love a lipstick colour but hate it's glossy finish? Not to worry!

How To:

• Apply your lipstick colour as usual
• Using a small, fluffy brush apply a small amount of translucent face powder to the lips in a gentle, dusting motion. (You can also do this over a thin piece of tissue place over the lips but I do it this way and get the same results!)
• Blend the powder by gentle pressing the lips together and you're done!

Cream and Liquid Contouring:

I love a matte contour in the form of powder but sometimes it can look a bit obvious or perhaps be a little difficult to blend especially on a liquid foundation base. When I tried cream and liquid contouring for the first time, I really liked the subtle effect it gave and I felt as if it looked really quite natural too.

How To:

• Grab a concealer or liquid foundation of your choice that is a few shades darker than your own skin tone.
• Apply the product using a brush or it's applicator in the areas you'd usually contour (cheek bones, down the side of the nose etc...)
• Blend the product evenly in the area of application - you can apply the brush you'd previously used for foundation that still has product over it to help blend out the two colours more evenly as well.

Bye Bye Under Eyes!

Dark circles or bags under those eyes? Peach concealer works wonders to cancel out those dark, uneven tones under your eyes! As you know, different concealer colours are better suited for cancelling out various shades of discolouration in the skin and peach concealer is my favourite of the bunch for brighter, even under eyes.

How To:

• Simply apply your concealer under the eyes in a gentle dabbing motion and blend out with your fingers or brush of choice!
• 
  
• Layer with your normal concealer on the top and set with powder!

Make Those Eyes Look Bigger!

I have pretty big eyes as it is, but I love the effect that this tip gives to brighter up my eyes in general.

How To:

• Simply apply a nude coloured eyeliner to the waterline for a brighter, bigger eyed effect!

OCC Lip Tar: A How To!

OCC Lip Tar's are a cult beauty product and more and more people are discovering their love for them. I'm definitely one of those people and over the last year or so, I've been obsessing over the wonder product that is lip tar! In this post, I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on OCC's infamous product as well as how to best apply it for the most comfortable and best looking wear.

Firstly, you may be wondering what exactly Lip Tar is: 

• Created by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC), their lip tar is basically a liquid lipstick. 
• It is packaged in a sort of lip gloss-esque tube and it's highly and I mean highly pigmented. 
• You also only need the smallest amount for an opaque application - seriously, you need a tiny bit.
• In a full size Lip Tar, you get 10ml of product and let me tell, you will never run out of it - it's that pigmented and that concentrated. 

OCC makes their Lip Tar formulas in two finishes: Matte and Metallic. They have a whole host of colours available in both of these finishes from primary colours such as yellow and blue to bright neon pinks and dark blackened purples. There's truly a colour for everyone in my opinion - and if there's not, well you can actually make your own simply by mixing them together.

Now, let's get into the good stuff:

With every lip tar, you receive a mini lip pencil and believe me, you get this for a reason. You don't want to be applying this product straight from the nozzle without a brush because it's just not going to go well!

Being so darn liquid-y and rich in pigment, a brush is the best way to evenly distribute the product and ensure you get a precise application. It's also the best way to avoid mess and any potential bleeding or transfer of the lip tar onto your face or anywhere else (it can leave a temporary stain).

Being so highly concentrated, lip tar can tend to bleed if worn alone without any other products. To combat this I'd of course suggest the use of a brush, but I'd also suggest a lip liner too. I'm not really a major fan of lip liner personally so I don't really want to buy every colour under the sun and I don't always wear it if I can get away with it. So, a clear liner is perfect for me and is definitely something I'd recommend to you. OCC in fact, make a great clear liner called 'Anti-Feathered' that helps to do just that - stop your lip tar bleeding! OCC also make a clear lip primer in similar packaging to their Lip Tar which I find it conjunction with their liner is very effective.

** If you do make a mistake with the Lip Tar (which believe me, I always do) it's easy to tidy it up with a small, thin brush and some concealer. Trace the outline of your lip for a nice, clean edge and be sure to blend it out well! **

So, I think that pretty much covers the basics of Lip Tar and what to do with it... One last thing though: LESS is MORE! Use a bit at a time and you'll find applying Lip Tar way less of a daunting task - don't forget it takes the tiniest bit to make that colour super opaque and vibrant so don't feel like you have to pile it on!

And that my friends, is everything I wanted to cover in this post. Hopefully, you are now a little bit more knowledgable in the world of Lip Tar or perhaps I've simply managed to grab your interest to go ahead and try it out. Which by the way, you totally should! Lip Tar is awesome stuff.

OCC is primarily sold in the US so it's not as readily available for us in the UK. However there are stores that stock it with my personal favourite being Cocktail Cosmetics who sell products from a whole range of awesome indie makeup brands. Love Makeup also sell lip tar, as do Selfridges! OCC Lip Tar's range from around £11-£13 which considering how much you get and how little you need, is an absolute bargain in my eyes!

Review: OCC Metallic Lip Tar in Technopagan

 Hello! I'm here today bringing you a review - it's going to be of OCC's Lip Tar in the shade 'Technopagan'. I first tried lip tars a few months ago when I purchased the shade 'Hoochie' which is a beautiful, vibrant matte purple (a review of which you read here!). After trying that out, I fell in love with both the concept and use of the product itself and I knew I wanted to try more! After eyeing up this bold shade for a long time, I bit the bullet and got it and I have to say - I'm in love!

Technopagan is a bold blackened purple with a metallic finish. In the light however, it has more of a deep blue sheen with a kind of dark purple lining peaking through. It's on the cool side and has a beautiful shine to it. I'm not stranger the bold colours but this shade is definitely something new for me and that's definitely in a good way. I love alternative lip colours and this particular one definitely fits that category though at the same time I feel it is still strangely wearable (for me, anyway). 

Unsurpringly and as with all other Lip Tars, Technopagan is HIGHLY pigmented and a little bit goes a very long way - believe me! Unlike the others I've tried, the metallic formula seems to be a lot thicker but it still applies smoothly and evenly. It has more of matte kind of finish on the lips and doesn't have a sheen in the lip gloss kind of sense but this is instead due to it's metallic finish. I wouldn't say it feels drying on the lips which is definitely a good thing and in terms of creaminess, it's probably in the middle somewhere. Along the edges of the lips it does kind of fade out to a sort of pink-purple outline which may mean you need to build up the colour a little but it's an effect I happen to really like.

In terms of staying power, this product is a winner! As I've found with the other 2 lip tars I own, the staying power is awesome. I wore this product for a whole day complete with eating, drinking and general chit chat and this guy stayed put. No smudging, no streaking and it still maintained that intense pigment. 

Overall, I'm really impressed with this Lip Tar and I'm absolutely in love with the colour and finish of it. I think this may just be my new favourite lip product right now and I desperately wanna try some more OCC Lip Tar's because they're honestly just that good.
