Korres Japanese Rose Shower Gel

Usually, I don't get too excited when it comes to things like shower gels. The only thing I ever really look for in them is their scent to be honest and apart from that, I'm not majorly fussy. However, now and then whilst I'm trying different shower gels, I discover one that shines out from the rest and can be considered a little bit more.. special. 

That was the case with a shower gel that I recently received as part of a birthday gift from my brother. It is the Korres Japanese Rose Shower Gel and today, I thought I'd share with you just why I like it so much. 

First of all, it's all natural. Well, 91.2% natural if I'm being precise but hey, that's still pretty close to me! This is always a factor that makes me instantly steer more towards a product - as I've said perhaps a hundred times by now, I have sensitive skin and products on the more natural side are always less likely to effect it!

The second reason that I enjoy this shower gel is its scent. I'm a fan of rose smells though I definitely think they can sometimes be too much even for me. The scent of this product however is delicate and subtle, it smells fresh and just very pleasant on the skin. Getting in to actually using the gel, I can say that it is very thick in its consistency and so this means you really don't require much to cover your whole body. It lathers into a really rich foam and for me, that's always a good sign of a quality shower gel. The gel isn't drying either like some can be and instead leaves my skin actually feeling quite soft and conditioned after washing it off.

Overall, this is a shower gel that is really quite indulgent both in use and in price. Even at it's cheapest end on Amazon, it is still £6.99 for 250ml and though I think it'll last you for a decent while, it is still on the pricier side. Nonetheless, this is a really nice shower gel so if you want to pamper yourself a little or perhaps indulge you or someone you love in a little treat, I'd definitely recommend giving this a go. 

Current Beauty Favourites!

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well and I hope you've had a great week. As far as I know, this will be the very first beauty favourites posts that I've ever done - how exciting! 

While I'm not sure how often I'll do these kind of posts, I will try to do them now and again as my favourites change around. As I said, this will be a beauty favourites - focused on makeup products in particular. I may in the future do a skincare favourites as well so let me know if that's something you'd like to see.

1. Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink - £4.27

This is such a nice summer blush - it has just the right amount of shimmer without making you look like a glitter ball! It's perfect for a glowy makeup look as well as giving you a natural flush of colour. I really like this blush in particular because I find they blend so well and aren't overly harsh whilst still being pigmented. Definitely try them!

2. Sigma F15 Blush Brush - £20.00

This has been a brush that I have been using continuously over the past couple of months and it has easily become my favourite tool for applying blush. As a duo-fibre brush, I find it gives me the perfect amount of coverage that I'm looking for and I also find that this helps to blend out blushes as well - particularly ones that are strongly pigmented. As it goes with most Sigma brushes, this is well designed and great quality.

3. Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder - £8.99

I'm not really one to rave about powders as usually, I feel that they all do the same job. However, there's something in particular that I do actually notice about this powder. I feel that it adds extra coverage without looking cakey as well as of course making the skin matte where needed. It's long lasting as well which is always something I look for in a powder as I hate re-applying!

4. Urban Decay Naked Palette - £38.00

This is easily my favourite palette of all time. Neutrals are so wearable for everyday and are easily used with pops of colour as well making them perfect for pretty much any look you could want to create. Urban Decay shadows are beautifully pigmented and blend like butter and the shades in this palette are no different. This is a classic makeup product that I'd recommend to anyone!

5. MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC20 - £21.50

This was one of my very first MAC purchases and for a long while, I went without really using it. Recently however, I re-discovered my love for it and I have been using it quite frequently since. I feel that this is a great choice for dryer skin as it doesn't highlight dryness and instead gives a nice, subtle dewy kind of finish. It has a great, buildable coverage and it lasts well too!

6. NYX Butter Gloss - £6.50

I'm not usually a fan of glosses - like, at all. However, these glosses are actually surprisingly pigmented and not sticky! They don't settle like a lot of glosses tend to on the lips so you don't get that nasty gloopy feeling on them either. This stays nice and glossy throughout the day and looks great alone or paired with a similar colour lipstick. They also smell WONDERFUL!

7. BeautyUK Brow Kit - £3.99

This kit is very popular with the girls at Pixiwoo and for £3.99, I thought I'd check it out. And I'm glad I did because actually, I really like it. I feel as if all of the shades are very versatile and are great for all sorts of girls with different hair shades. The wax is also very handy for shaping and taming those brows before applying the brow powder. This kit also comes with a mini brush and tweezers making it great for travelling too!

8. Maybelline Brow Drama - £4.99

This is easily one of my holy grail brow products! This is really nicely pigmented - so much so that I sometimes just sweep this through my brows on it's own and I'm good to go! It not only helps to set your brows but it coats them too which adds pigmented as well as a little bit of thickness too. At £4.99, it's a bargain and another definite must have!

9. Seventeen FalsifeyeHD Mascara! - £6.99

My lashes are pretty difficult to curl as though they're fairly long, they're also super straight. So, I'm pretty much always on the lookout for an effective, lengthening and curling mascara and I came across this one day after it was recommended by Youtuber and makeup artist Wayne Goss. After using it once, I was instantly impressed by this mascara and would say in it's effect, it's comparable to L'Oreal's Telescopic mascara which is one of my all time favourites. This lengthens your lashes without making them clumpy and it gives you a long lasting curl as well - perfect.

REVIEW: Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a good weekend so far. Today, I'm going to be reviewing a Milani blush for you all which is in the shade 'Dolce Pink'. Milani is an American brand and so is not readily available in the UK, I've found it a couple of times in pound shops such as Poundland but predominantly, I get Milani from Amazon. I love their lipsticks and this particular blush is my second one in their baked blush range.

Packaging:

I really like the packaging of Milani's products from their lipsticks to these blushes. I love the rose gold and I feel that it gives their products that higher end feel. It's always nice to have makeup that looks good too and it's nice to know this is something they have considered in their design.

This blush also comes with a mirror and a handy brush in it's third layer which makes it great for travel and on the go touch ups!

Colour and Pigmentation:

As I mentioned earlier, the shade of this blush is called 'Dolce Pink' and it is a beautiful, medium pink shade with gold shimmer running through it.

 It is a very shimmery blush so for some, this may be off putting - however, on the skin I feel it gives a sheen rather than making you look like a glitter ball and so I think this makes it a great Summer shade for that glowy look. 

This blush has great colour payoff and as I said gives a really nice sheen to the skin - perfect for Summer and is comparable to a MAC Mineralize blush or even Skin Finish. I also think it's a pretty good dupe for NARS' infamous Orgasm blush, too. Dolce Pink is nicely pigmented and gives a good colour payoff.

Application and Wear:

I find this blush applies smoothly which is something I have found more often with baked formulas. I also found that it blends nicely on the skin too and it feels soft and smooth. In terms of wear, this lasts a good few hours (5-6) before any noticeable fading which I think is pretty good for a blush. Though I have not tried them myself, I can tell you that from my research many have said these are comparable in the look and feel of the MAC Mineralize range so if they are a little too pricey for you, Milani baked blushes may be a good alternative!

Overall, I really like this blush and I feel like it's a perfect shade for Summer. On my paler skin, I find it to be really flattering and it gives a lovely glow. I feel as if this shade is very versatile too and will go with a whole host of different looks. I'd definitely recommend it and as a drugstore brand in America, Milani blushes are also very reasonable in price too so you can't really go wrong.

OOTD: 29/05/14

Hey all, it's time for another outfit post...

Today's look was quite a laid back and casual one. Firstly, I wore my light wash skinny jeans along with a simple, flowy white top.

For added comfort, I wore my super warm and soft grey Superdry hoodie. I also wore my white high top Converse along with some cute frilly socks to add that little bit of girly-ness to the outfit.

To accessorise, I just wore a chunky gold statement necklace and that was it!
